Basic Swedish & Relaxation
(My specialty.)
This
is a smooth, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, relieves
muscular tension, and also improves circulation, blood flow, and range
of movement.
It includes two basic strokes: efflourage (long and flowing)
and petrissage (a kneading of the muscles). This is great for people
that aren't looking for any specific work, but just want to zone out
and indulge in a very relaxing experience. ($60/60 minutes, $70/75 minutes, $80/90
minutes)
Deep Tissue
Deep
tissue massage targets chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive
strain, postural problems, and aids recovery from injury. Each person
experiences pressure differently during the massage, so normally I
start superficially and ease into the depth of the muscle slowly. This
"tapering" often allows more movement and depth.
I often use my forearms and elbows to really get in deep. (Not only are these great tools but this also helps to preserve my hands, wrists & thumbs too!) If the pressure is applied too deeply or too quickly, the muscle may tighten as a defense mechanism, so it is important that I work my way in, always and invariably. (Add $10)
Reflexology
Although
reflexology is sometimes called foot massage, it is more than simple
foot massage. Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points
on the foot that correspond to organs and systems in the body.
Using thumb and finger pressure on the reflex points of the feet creates balance and triggers healing to the corresponding areas throughout the rest of the body.
Reflexology is very relaxing, especially for people who stand on their feet all day or just have tired, achy feet. It can also be performed on the hands and ears! (Included)

Acupressure
Acupressure
is an Oriental-based system of finger pressure massage that treat
points along the acupressure meridians, aiming to release discomfort
and rebalance energy.
When I find a point of tension, I will apply localized pressure there, and tell my clients this may be uncomfortable for a moment and encourage them to take a deep breath while I retain the pressure, and focus on letting that tension go.
When I release the pressure, they release the breath, along with the tension. Adios! If it does not serve you, get rid of it! (Included)
Lomi-Lomi
Aloha!
This Hawaiian modality is one of my absolute favorites. When I think of
lomi-lomi I think of graceful and flowing strokes that are woven
together in a healing, relaxing dance.
The massage is given in a fluid, rhythmic motion using the forearms as well as the hands. Some people have described this as feeling like gentle waves moving over the body. (Included)
Assisted Stretching
This
technique allows you to perform stretches that would otherwise be
difficult or impossible. Assisted stretching helps to deepen stretches
and improve results. I have stretching techniques for almost every part
of the body.
Since everyone has a different
threshold, this is something I approach very slowly and judiciously,
because stretching too much or too fast would obviously be
counterproductive. (Included)
Cranial Sacral
This
is a technique that seeks to restore the natural rhythmic movement
found among the bones of the skull. It does the same for the movements
of the sacrum, which is the bone at the base of the spine.
The purpose of this is to aid the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system.
This can be a quite intense experience for some. It is simultaneously
subtle and profound, and often leads to a great energetic/emotional
release...and these are always welcome! (Included)
Sports Massage
This is a modality that I normally don't incorporate into my normal routine, but I do offer it upon request.
The reason being, instead of being relaxing, it is more
stimulating, employing deep, fast strokes. It is used primarily for the
serious athlete who trains continuously, and focuses on the muscles
relevant to the particular athletic activity.
So
for instance, instead of a standard full body massage, with a sports
massage I focus primarily on one affected area for the full allotted
time.
($60/60 minutes, $70/75 minutes, $80/90 minutes)
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is a massage geared towards reducing stress, anxiety, and depression
triggered by pregnancy. Massage also helps decrease swelling in
the arms and legs, and relieves aches and pains in muscles and joints
of pregnant women.
The mother's body must be properly positioned and supported during the
massage, using pillows and padding. Proper positioning ensures comfort
and safety for the mother and baby .
*Some massage techniques, such as deep tissue work and reflexology, cannot be used.
Certain areas of the body should be avoided during pregnancy, and
massage is not recommended in the first trimester.* ($60/60 minutes, $70/75 minutes, $80/90 minutes)

Hot Stones
Massage:
Heated, smooth stones are placed on certain points on the body
to warm and loosen tight muscles and balance energy centers in the
body.
I may also hold stones and apply gentle pressure with them. The warmth is comforting.
Hot stones are good for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage. ($100/90 minutes)
